I have taught for 13 years in the classroom (1st grade, Pre-K, and Kindergarten) before moving to the Media Center. In 2008, I earned National Board Certification in the area of Early Childhood Generalist.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education, and then a Masters of Education degree in Reading from Frostburg State University.
While working on my graduate degree at Frostburg I was fortunate enough to be a graduate assistant in the Children’s Literature Centre. As a life-long reader, this was a perfect job for me. During my two years as a graduate assistant my love of children’s literature and passion for introducing children to quality literature grew. I am still an active member of the Children’s Literature Centre. Every April, I look forward to being a part of the Spring Festival of Children’s Literature.
Over the past six years I have held adjunct teaching positions at both Frostburg State University (Hagerstown campus) and Wilson College. In both positions I was able to share my love of children’s literature and teaching reading with future teachers.
